Ways to Help the Animals
Most Important – Email Mayor and Council
Email Mayor Kennedy Stewart and the Council members to express your opposition to any possible animal testing at the new St. Paul’s Hospital:
What is most important is not the content, but that you send an email. Just express in your own words that you want the rezoning bylaw to make clear that animal experimentation is not permitted at the new St. Paul’s Hospital.
Please also urge Council to hold another open house – see below.
Another thing you can do is complete the online feedback survey on the City’s website:
If you forget something, it is possible to complete the survey further times.
Just express in your own words that you do not want animal experimentation at the new St. Paul’s Hospital. Please also urge Council to hold another open house – see below.
Likely comments submitted through this feedback survey will simply be summarized for Council – that is why it is important for you to email the Mayor and Council directly.
Community Open House
Although a community open house was held on November 20, 2018, some persons who added their names to the notification list were not notified of this open house. We ask you to urge Council to hold another open house at which time the public will have the opportunty to express their views on this rezoning directly to City Planning staff.
Please provide us with your contact information so we can notify you if there will be another open house. See “Stay Connected”
Public Hearing prior to Rezoning
Vancouver City Council is not authorized to adopt a rezoning bylaw to permit land uses at the new hospital site unless Council holds a public hearing. Council must consider both written and oral submissions from the public. The City has advised that it expects the hospital public hearing to be held sometime in the fall of 2019.
Please provide us with your contact information so we can let you know when the public hearing is scheduled and how you can submit your opinion to City Council. See “Stay Connected”
Even if you don’t live in Vancouver, your comments will influence the City. You may be a voter in Vancouver by the time of the next election, or you may be an influencer of someone else who is a Vancouver voter. Vancouver prides itself on being a world-leader on social issues – the world is watching it!
